With premiership winner Aidan Guerra locked in at the nib Newcastle Knights until the end of 2020, Knights TV spoke to head coach Nathan Brown about the news.

First and foremost, Brown was keen to point out how important Guerra's experience will be to a young team.

"Aidan is a player with a lot of experience, which is important for us," he said.

"He's been in grand finals, won grand finals and won Origin series.

"We have a lot of young players that haven't played a lot of NRL, and like (previous signings) Jamie Buhrer and Rory Kostjasyn, Adrian comes from a good club that is used to winning."

Brown also thinks that the move will help grow Guerra's game as well, as he will be able to take on more of a leadership role.

"We feel that Aidan leaving the Roosters and coming to a team with a lot of younger players will allow his leadership to grow," Brown said.

"He'll fit in well, and he's at a stage in life where he has a young child. Newcastle is a really good place to bring up a family, so off the field we think he'll fit in well."

And while the Club is pleased to sign Guerra, Brown indicated that there is still plenty of work to be done in recruitment.

"We know that we're certainly in the situation where we need to recruit more players," he said on Thursday.

"We're very confident that we'll come up with some more signings over the next month.

"How many I don't yet know, but they'll certainly help our squad get a lot better."
