With no match this weekend, the nib Newcastle Knights showed off some of their other sporting skills on Tuesday with a fun indoor sports training session.

“It's good to get away from the footy side of things and do a bit of training and have a bit of fun at it,” said hooker Danny Levi.

“The boys got a fair bit of a sweat up doing it.”

The Knights forward agrees the bye has come at a good time.

“For us, it is time to reflect on the first 11 weeks” explained Levi.

“We have improved a lot but we’re not where we want to be so it’s a good time to get our heads right and come back even stronger.”

Levi admits the last 40 minutes was the team's downfall in the loss to the Penrith Panthers on the weekend.

“The second half we had one set and we got called for a forward pass and we didn’t see the ball for another ten minutes,” Levi explained.

“It took a bit of gas out of us and we need to be better in those situations.

“There is a lot of times where we’re going to be under fatigue and we’ve got to be able to perform.

"If we can’t do that we’re not going to win many games so it is something we need to improve on.”

On his own game, Levi said he’s trying to improve each week.

“(Nathan) Browny has been helping me out heaps, I have a long way to go but there’s little things I’m trying to pick up which is really helping my game,” he said.

Meanwhile the 21-year-old said he’s sad to see team mate Dane Gagai leave the Club next season.

“We are all disappointed, he is a class player and a really good leader,” commented Levi.

“We have still got a season to go with him and he’s definitely going to help us build for the rest of the year."
