The nib Newcastle Knights in conjunction with the NRL hosted a first of it's kind coaching workshop for junior league coaches at Townson Oval on Monday night.
47 coaches from across Newcastle, Maitland and Group 21 areas attended the free event which was led by Andrew Ryan (NRL Wellbeing and Education Officer), Mick Potter (Newcastle Knights Assistant Coach), Scott Dureau (Newcastle Knights Elite Pathways Development Coach), Casey Bromilow (Newcastle Knights Elite Pathways Manager) and Matt Toohey (Newcastle Knights Youth Physical Development Manager).
The workshop was designed to provide professional opportunities for coaches looking to enhance their abilities to improve junior players.
The focus was to enforce the teaching of essential rugby league skills such as catching, passing and tackling whilst it also provided a great insight into what NRL clubs are looking for in junior players
“While the NRL Game Development Officers were the driving force behind this initiative, the nib Newcastle Knights wholeheartedly support the concept,” said Elite Pathways Program Manager Casey Bromilow.
“This was the first session of this kind and the feedback has been extremely positive.
“Our aim will be to provide opportunities like this as often as possible.”
