Last week’s 40-0 loss to the Penrith Panthers hasn’t dampened the spirits of the nib Newcastle Knights’ young players.
Hooker Danny Levi admits it was a disappointing result but he feels the side is headed in the right direction.
“We’re still far from perfect but after those three games we definitely built a lot of confidence and the weekend didn’t really show what we’re about,” commented Levi.
“The Panthers are a quality side and if you give that much ball to a quality side, they’re definitely going to put points on you.
“We’ve put that behind us and we’re looking to bounce back this week.”
The 21-year-old maintains there is plenty of room for improvement.
“We had a few things we wanted to do with the fullback and we didn’t really execute that,” said Levi.
“It’s something we’re going to work on, it’s only round four so we still have a lot more rounds to go and we’ll definitely be better.
“If we cut those mistakes out and hold the ball and put more pressure on, we’ll be fine.”
Levi believes the best thing moving forward is to put the loss behind them.
“We all know that’s not what we’re about, that doesn’t define us as a team, we’re all confident of what we can do so all we have to do is pick ourselves up,” Levi explained.
“It sucks that we lost but it definitely hasn’t dampened our confidence, we know what we’re about and what we can do.
“We had a pretty good training session on the field today, our leaders definitely revved up the boys, so It should be all good for the next week.”
The side look ahead to the round five clash against the Cronulla Sharks this Saturday.
“Cronulla are premiers but it’s another job we’ve got to look forward to, it’s a big task but we’re all excited for it and I think we’re all up for it,” Levi added.
