nib Newcastle Knights winger Ken Sio said player effort can't be questioned following the narrow 24-18 loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday.
Despite leading by two-points at half time, the Knights paid the price for costly errors in the second half.
Sio was one of three try scorers for the red and blues, along with captain Trent Hodkinson and Pete Mata’utia.
“I’m glad I got it, but it wasn’t the result we wanted," Sio said.
"Now it’s back to the drawing board... we’ve got six day to make it better ahead of Friday."
While in the previous two rounds it has been the first half of footy for the Knights that needed attention, the 26-year-old was happy with the performance in the first 40.
“That is what we spoke about before we ran out, to start well and that’s what we did but we need to work on our discipline and hopefully it’ll come together on Friday,” Sio said.
“No-one can question the boys’ effort, can’t complain, they were courageous out there, hopefully we have that effort throughout the whole year.”
The Knights winger maintained there were signs of improvement coming from the Knights but there is still plenty to work on for their Round 4 clash.
“The boys showed great effort but hopefully we work on the little things that let us down and hopefully it will be fixed,” added Sio.
It is a short turnaround for Newcastle this week as they prepare to travel to Sydney to take on the Penrith Panthers this Friday.
