The nib Newcastle Knights is pleased to announce that 21-year-old utility Dylan Phythian has signed a one-year contract with the Club.

A local junior, Phythian had his breakthrough season in 2016, making his debut in Round 25 and finishing off the year with two NRL appearances under his belt.

“On the back of what happened at the end of last year, to sign on is exciting news,” Phythian said.

Able to play at fullback, in the halves and at hooker, Phythian brings great utility value and will be training with the NRL side during the 2017 pre-season.

“My aim in 2017 is to get a few consistent NRL games, I want to cement a spot in the top squad and just improve as a player and a trainer,” Phythian explained.

“This is my first proper pre-season in the last few years, and my first NRL pre-season.

“I’m a bit nervous about that, but it’s exciting at the same time.”
