Newcastle Knight Brock Lamb has secured a one-year contract extension that will see him at the Club until at least 2018.
“I’m pretty excited and feel like there’s a good opportunity for me here,” he said on Wednesday.
“I’m excited to have the next two years here.”
The West Maitland Reddogs junior made his first grade debut in Round 3 of the 2016 season and has played three games on the NRL stage.
He was thrilled to secure an extension and happy to progress his career playing in the red and blue.
“I think they have shown faith in saying there is a good opportunity for me here,” he said.
“The Club has struggled this year but I think that has made me more determined to stay here and want to get the Club to succeed.
“That has given me a lot of drive and motivation."
The 19-year-old had a tough season with an ankle injury sustained in Round 11 that saw him sit out for the second half of the season. In that time he also had surgery on his shoulder.
After a rehabilitation period, Lamb is back to strength and is gearing up for an important pre-season.
“In the last week of the season I got (injury) clearance,” he said.
“I will rip into pre-season and will hopefully have a big year next year.
“I just want learn as much as I can and put in as much effort as I can.”
With his future determined, the former Knights junior and Australian Schoolboys representative is looking forward to building on what he has already achieved playing at the Club.
“Hopefully next year I can play a few more games and have a better year,” he said.
“It has been a real up and down season and have had some real highs in debuting and playing a couple of games, but then I have also had some lows in injuring myself and have had some hard times.
“I think it has put me in good stead for next year and has put a level base for me to go off.
“My family and friends always want to see me playing for the local team and I want to play for the local team myself so that’s pretty exciting.”
