With the team preparing to take on the St George Illawarra Dragons at Kogarah this Saturday, utility back Nathan Ross can’t help but reminisce over the same fixture last season.

It was Round 21 and Ross made his first grade debut on the wing at Jubilee Oval, scoring a try and immediately making an impression on the rugby league world with his passionate celebration.

Since then he has only missed one game due to selection (Round 1 of this season), showing that he has well and truly grabbed his chance with both hands at the ripe old age of 27.

“It wasn’t too good of a day, but I got a try on debut which wasn’t too bad,” Ross said.

“To debut for this Club was a massive achievement, so I have fond memories of that day even though we didn’t come away with the win.”

Ross’ mentality hasn’t changed much since that day as he looks to make an impact in the final match of the season for the Knights.

“It’s back to where I debuted and I’m hoping to put in another strong performance this weekend,” he explained.

“I know that this whole team has been building towards something, and I feel that the win is within our grasp this weekend.”

It would be a fantastic way to finish a challenging season for the red and blues.

“We could potentially be fielding the strongest team we’ve been able to field this year, and I’m very confident in our boys,” Ross said.

And if the winger gets over the white line against the Dragons, he promises he will finally execute the much anticipated back flip that fans have been calling for.

“You’ll get one this weekend if I score,” he grinned.

“You have my word.”
