It was a solid individual performance from Jake Mamo in the 34-12 loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs as the fullback scored a try and clocked up 117 metres with the ball in hand.
He was much more interested in talking about how it was a big day for the team and the Club following the final whistle though.
“Old Boys Day is always a great experience,” he told Knights TV.
“We had a presentation before the game where old players gave each of us guys a jersey, which is pretty special.
“It’s always a special day and we play with a lot of emotion.”
On top of it being Old Boys Day, it was also Jeremy Smith’s final home game and an opportunity for fans to farewell departing players James McManus, Kade Snowden and Robbie Rochow.
“It was great to see the fans hang around and farewell those guys,” he said.
“I think it’s good that we paid tribute to them.
“We all get emotional when someone’s leaving, and guys like Jeremy (Smith), Jimmy (McManus), Kade (Snowden) and Robbie (Rochow) have all been a big part of this team for the last couple of years.”
With Old Boys Day now done and dusted for another year, the team is looking towards the final game of the 2016 season against the St Geore Illawarra Dragons at Kogarah this Saturday.
