Newcastle Knights’ hooker Danny Levi is eager for a return to home turf to take on the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Round 22.
Saturday’s game provides the team an opportunity to turnaround two disappointing games on the road.
“It’s important for us and especially for the fans,” Levi said on Wednesday.
“It has been a pretty tough season.
“It will be good for us to get a few wins moving on to next year and get a bit of confidence up before then.”
The home crowd support will be vital in providing a boost to the team as they face up against the fifth-placed Bulldogs.
“They are a big pack and we will definitely have to do a lot better than we did on the weekend through the middle,” Levi said.
“That’s what our main focus will be on, stopping their big boys.”
Levi also spoke about am ongoing back injury he has managed in the back half of the season.
“I am managing it at the moment and get through as much as I can,” he said.
The hooker was scheduled to have surgery but has postponed after Tyler Randell was sidelined with a rib cartilage injury.
“When Randy (Tyler Randell) is back to full strength, we’ll sort it out then,” he said.
“It’s not comfortable but the medical staff manage it really well."
Meanwhile he praised fellow hooker Chris Adams for a smooth transition back into the NRL.
Adams rejoined the Club five weeks ago after playing with Lakes United in the local Newcastle competition.
“Chris is awesome. It is tough to come from Club football straight into first grade,” Levi said.
“He has managed to handle that really well and it’s full credit to him.
“On the weekend, I thought he had a really good game.”
