Man of the moment Dane Gagai isn’t getting carried away with his success at Origin level, and says his attention is solely on this weekend’s game against the St George Illawarra Dragons.

After scoring three tries at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night it would be easy to lose focus heading into a big game at Hunter Stadium.

Gagai is excited to be back in Club colours though, and took part in the Captain’s Run on Friday afternoon.

“I’m back here now, and whatever jersey I’m representing I want to do it to the best of my abilities,” he said.

“I’m representing the Knights now and it’s a big week with the Alex McKinnon Cup so hopefully we can come away with the win.”

Gagai spoke about living in the moment as critical, and has already put all of his Origin success behind him.

“I got to enjoy my time in the moment being with the Origin boys and my family, but that moment is gone now,” he said.

“I’ve just got to be in this moment here, and that’s with the Newcastle Knights.”

While Gagai is one of the biggest names on the Knights’ roster, he’s looking to the brigade of youth to continue developing and ultimately make the difference.

“I know it’s been a bit of a rough time for the Knights, but I’m positive in what Browny’s doing and I know that there’s a group of young lads here that’s willing to try.

“There’s plenty of talent here, and I just want to be one of the players that can help this Club grow.”
