Round 16 at Hunter Stadium

In Round 16, the Newcastle Knights host the St George Illawarra Dragons at Hunter Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

For just the second time, the clubs will play for the Alex McKinnon Cup. McKinnon made his NRL debut for the Dragons in 2011 before joining the Knights in 2012. Following McKinnon’s career-ending injury, the clubs introduced the Alex McKinnon Cup.

The Knights will hope to claim the Cup for the first time, after the Dragons won it in the inaugural game last year.

As part of partner’s nib match day partnership, in a Hunter Stadium first, an inflatable selfie ball will make its way around the crowd for people to capture their image that displays on the big screen. nib will also launch merchandise into the crowd throughout the day via the t-shirt cannons.

There will be a bucket collection for Damien Jobson, a local rugby league player who recently suffered a spinal injury, arranged by Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League volunteers at Saturday’s match.
