The NYC Knights secured their first victory on home turf for the season on Monday against the Manly Sea Eagles with the yo-yoing match eventually seeing the Knights emerge 30-24 winners.
While the opposition entered the match as a side yet to record a win in 2016, coach Todd Lowrie ensured the Knights did not discount Manly’s potential and hunger to secure their first competition points.
“It was a tough match,” he told Knights TV in the sheds after the game.
“They turned up to play like we thought they were going to. They haven’t had a win yet this year.
“They turned up really fired up and up guys were probably a bit asleep at the start of the game.
“It wasn’t a great performance, but it’s was our first win at home for the year so that’s something we are really pride ourselves on this week.
A number of individual players were praised for the positive impact they had on the game.
“We had some big individual efforts,” he said.
“Nick Meaney our fullback has been really good for us the last couple of weeks.
“Tyrone Amey, one of our front rowers was really good for us too.
“Everyone dug deep in that second half to try and get a win which was good.
Halfback Jack Cogger scored the side’s final try in the 70th minute that put the Knight back in the lead.
“It went back and forward and we really made it hard for ourselves but we’re happy to get the win at home,” he said.

“We did speak about turning for your mate and having that fighting spirit I suppose that’s what got us over the line today.
“We found ourselves behind a fair bit in that game and stayed in the game by sticking to what we know,” he said.
“It was ugly but we did get the win.”
