Korbin Sims has made the decision to shave off his considerable beard in a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Newcastle.

Since he launched his campaign last month, he has already raised more than $1600 and is pushing to reach his goal of $2000.

The beard is set to be shaved on Thursday February 25 from 6pm at the Newcastle Knights Membership stand at Charlestown Square, opposite Reading Cinema.

People are encouraged to come along to Charlestown Square to support Korbin in his efforts and watch the ginger-tinged beard finally come off.

Korbin had nurtured his facial hair for more than three months, and decided the time was right to part ways with his face furniture.

Since the birth of his healthy son he has felt the need to contribute to families less fortunate than his, so decided that shaving for charity would be a good way to help out.

"I'm lucky enough to have a healthy child, and there are a lot of people out there who don't," he told Knights TV.

"I just thought it would be a great opportunity to raise some money for Ronald McDonald House and help out some really sick kids.

"It's going towards a great cause, so I hope everyone can help out."

Be there to support Korbin's shave!
