The annual Players’ Player Award is one of the most sought after for any Newcastle Knight who strives to make his teammates proud.
In 2015, powerful prop Kade Snowden received the highest number of votes from the Newcastle Knights players during the season for being the competitor who made the most impact on the team.
“It’s a massive honour,” Snowden told to Knights TV on Friday.
“That’s what you play for, to get that recognition from your peers,” he said.
“That’s the reason why I play, to be the best player and try to help out as much as I can.”
The 2015 season has been described as one of the best of the 31-year-old’s career and has been one where he’s taken on a bigger leadership role within the team.
“It’s a big responsibility not having all the other older players who were here this season,” he said.
“Having to step up is a big thing.
“I’m not one to talk out loud. I let my actions speak for themselves.
“It was hard, and I have a lot more learning do in that kind of role, but I am enjoying it and looking forward to next year.”
Snowden said he thoroughly enjoyed the Knights Awards Evening and the opportunity it gives the players to catch up after being on the off season break.
“It’s been unreal, and it’s good seeing everyone again after maybe a month now,” he said.
He already has a clear idea of what to expect and what he looks forward to when pre-season begins later this year.
“I think it's to get back to training and to see how hard everyone wants to train to better themselves so we’re not in this position next year,” he said.
“That will be the biggest thing for me.”
