While the team didn't quite get the win on Saturday night, second-rower Tariq Sims was ecstatic with the crowd that showed up for Old Boys Day and Kurt Gidley's final home game.
"It just goes to show how passionate our fans are, I've been to a club where they've got really solid fans but they don't compare to Newcastle," he told Knights TV in the sheds after the game.
"They're unreal, the way they turn up week in, week out."
Hundreds of fans stayed behind after the game and thanked Gidley on the field for his years of service to the Club.
The sheer amount of people that stayed behind was an eye-opener for Sims, and reinforced his appreciation for the red and blue faithful.
"We've always had great crowds even when the scores and the games haven't been going our way," he said.
"They turn up rain, hail or shine and that's why I love it.
"I've got a lot of time for the fans and love talking to them, because they're all characters."
And while the game itself didn't go to plan, Sims is already looking forwards to next weekend with only one thing on his mind.
"I want to get that win down in Penrith and send Kurt off overseas with a win," he said.
"I want to flog that song out in the last round, and then we'll be back into pre-season."
The Knights take on the Penrith Panthers at Pepper Stadium on Saturday afternoon to conclude the 2015 season.
