The Newcastle Knights visited the Starlight Room at John Hunter Children’s Hospital on Tuesday as part of the NSW Rugby League Wishleague campaign.

The NSW Rugby League has again joined forces to help raise funds to help Starlight grant life-changing wishes with the NSW Rugby League Wishleague.

The NSW Cup competition and NSW Rugby League celebrate Wishleague Rounds over a two-week period.

Wishleague is a fundraising opportunity for the NSW Rugby League’s official charity partner, The Starlight Foundation. The Starlight Foundation is a national children’s charity dedicated to brightening the lives of all seriously ill and hospitalised children, young people and their families.

Starlight’s Programs, delivered both in and out of hospital are integral to the total care of seriously ill children and young people. Starlight is there to focus on the child and lift their spirits by giving them an opportunity to laugh and play.

Knights Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Jaelen Feeney, Chanel Mata’utia and Sam Mataora learned first hand the wonderful work the Starlight Room does when they called in to have some fun with young patients.

“It’s been an unreal experience this past hour. I’ve never been here before, so it’s great to be here for the first time,” Fitzgibbon said.

The players painted, did quizzes and threw a football with the young children, and from the smiles on face, the players got just as much enjoyment from the activities.

The NSW Rugby League Wishleague is in it’s second year and encourages all NSW Cup teams and supporters to raise as much money as possible for the Starlight Foundation to help fund at least 3 wishes for seriously sick children.

The Rugby League community and all Australians can make a donation during Wishleague Round and we encourage all members and supporters to jump onto the Newcastle Knights fundraising page and make a donation.
