Newcastle Knights five-eighth Jarrod Mullen has been scheduled for season-ending toe surgery on Thursday following consultation with a specialist on Tuesday morning.
The 28-year-old missed 10 weeks of football trying to manage the injury before making his return against Canberra in Round 18.
While it was a day-to-day management of the injury, he managed to play in Round 19 before being ruled out of last weekend's match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Mullen expects the recovery time to be approximately three months.
