Coach Rick Stone has welcomed new recruit, Damian Sironen to the Club and spoke to the media following his first training session on Tuesday at Knights HQ.
"We've been watching him for a while in the Q Cup for the Tweed Heads Seagulls," Stone said.
"We've decided to bring him down here, at least for the end of the year, and give him an opportunity to start with NSW Cup and possibly push for a position in our NRL team.
Stone expects his mobility and motor to be a valuable addition to the side's forward pack.
"I think the game's starting to ask for more mobile forwards who can play a little more time," he said.
"We'll see how he goes in NSW Cup. He might take a couple of games to find his feet."
Stone recognised the pathway the Club has recently provided for a number of players from the Club's reserve grade to play NRL football.
"We had a few boys perform off the bench pretty well like Sam Mataora, Joe Tapine, Clint Newton and Danny Levi," he said.
The NSW Cup Knights prepare to take on the Manly Sea Eagles on Sunday and will recieve a boost from the return of those players while the NRL has the Round 17 bye.
Meanwhile Stone described Dane Gagai's inclusion in the Queensland Origin team for game III of the series as a reward for the talented centre.
"He's been one of our shining lights in a season that hasn't been great for us," he said.
"His competitiveness and ability to make a break has changed the game for us over a long period.
"This is a culmination for Gagai of about three years of hard work here.
"He's been working towards being a better professional for a long time now and has learnt and matured a lot and is a leader within our group.
"It's good recognition at this stage of his career."
