As the nation comes together to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landing at Gallipoli this Saturday April 25, the Newcastle Knights will host the North Queensland Cowboys in game two of a five-game NRL schedule.

As part of the commemoration, the Club invites all serving past or present personnel to the match at Hunter Stadium free of charge.

“As a Club we feel extremely privileged to be hosting a game on ANZAC Day and we know it is going to be a special occasion,” CEO Matt Gidley explains.

“We look forward to welcoming as many current or former servicemen and women to our match on Sunday as we join together to honour 100 years of service.”

The criteria for receiving a complimentary ticket to the Newcastle Knights ANZAC Day match at Hunter Stadium is as follows:

  • Current service personnel in uniform
  • Current service personnel with official Defence ID
  • Defence personnel with a Returned from Active Service badge
  • Ex Service personnel wearing medals (ex soldiers)
  • RSL Members with RSL badge (returned servicemen and women)

To redeem on match day, simply attend any Tickemaster Box Office window at Hunter Stadium with identification as listed in the above.

The complimentary tickets are general admission and any accompanying guests may purchase a general admission ticket for $25. Tickets can be collected or purchased at any Ticketmaster Box Office window at the stadium on match day.

Gates will open at 11am, with NYC's kick off earlier to allow for an ANZAC Day ceremony prior to the NRL match. The ceremony includes teams entering to the “Spirit of ANZAC” song, delivery of the Ode, Rouse and Last Post as well as National Anthems of both Australia and New Zealand.

  • National flags and guard of honour
  • Teams enter to "Spirit of ANZAC" song and form the player guard of honour
  • Three representatives for the defence forces will walk in the ceremony
  • The official party will walk through the player guard of honour
  • The Ode, Rouse and the Last Post are delivered
  • National anthems sung accompanied by the Australian Army Band

The Club is hosting Legacy volunteers for fundraising purposes at the match.

Those attending the ANZAC Day match are encouraged to arrive early to best avoid any delays.
