Four lucky Newcastle Knights Members have experienced a money-can't-buy trip away with the team to the Gold Coast for the Titans game on the weekend.

The winners gained entry in the competition by being a financial Member of the Club and signed up to a Knights' payment plan.

Passionate Member Michelle Millington and her husband Craig, from New Lambton and Member Luke Barbara and his wife Kimberley from Umina Beach were randomly selected to travel with the team.

“I couldn’t believe that I had won. Just to know I was going to have this experience and this opportunity was mind blowing,” Michelle said.

Meanwhile, Luke was so shocked to get the call from the Knights’ Membership department telling him he’d won the prize, he called the back 10 minutes later to confirm it was not in fact a joke.

The exclusive, all access trip saw the Members fly to the Gold Coast with the team, stay at the team hotel and share meals with the players.

They were a part of the Knights’ inner sanctum and learned exactly what an average day for a professional rugby league player is like.

On game day, the Members sat in on the pre game team meeting and were with the team as they arrived at the ground before taking their seat in the stands.

They then lapped up the atmosphere in the shed after the team’s 20-18 win over the Titans.

For long time supporters like Michelle and Craig, the trip away was an eye opening experience that gave a unique insight into how the Club they are so passionately follow operates.

"There were so many highlights,” Michelle said.

“Obviously the win had to be the best highlight we could have had.

“Getting to know some of the players and getting to know how it all works behind the scenes.

“It was just absolutely amazing. You can't buy an experience like that and we feel really privileged that we've had the opportunity to do this.

“It was really surprising to see how structured and organised the whole trip is.

"The boys all travel together and their companionship together is really great to see.

“Sitting in on the game plan was great.

"Going into the sheds after the game it was also an experience to see the wind down and what happens.

“Rick's talk to the team afterwards was really good."

Spending the weekend with the team allowed the Members to meet and get to know the players on a personal level.

“We’ve been made to feel part of the team, both by the players and the coaching staff and everyone else that needs to come along to support the team,” she said.

"The guys are just regular guys. They are friendly and have made us feel welcome and have been interested in us.

“I've told lots of people that I've won and they've been astounded that the Knights have actually given people this opportunity and to have an inside look at the team and how it all works.

“It's just been phenomenal.”

Knights Membership manager, Kimberly Knight accompanied the winning Members on the once-in-a lifetime trip and was pleased the Club could offer such a unique experience to some of the Club’s most loyal.

"There is no better way to showcase that being a Member matters and provides the best possible experience than to take members on a road trip with the team,” Knight said.

"Rick Stone, Knights staff and team members went out of their way to make the Members feel special. I know this was a trip they will remember forever."
