The Junior Kiwis edged out the Junior Kangaroos with a late field goal to secure a 15-14 win in the trans-Tasman Test played on Saturday at New Zealand's Mount Smart Stadium.

The Newcastle Knights were well represented in the match with Jake Mamo pulling on the green and gold, while NYC teammates Chance Peni, Danny Levi and Joseph Tapine represented their home country, New Zealand.

The game was ignited with a fiery haka before the match, which set the mood for the battle that was to ensue.

The Knights representatives attracted attention with Mamo and Peni scoring for their respective teams.

The visitors were the first to put points on the board, but the Kiwis fought back, including Peni's try in the 29th minute.

It was then Mamo who leveled the score at 10-all with a try on the left edge before the break.

Both the Kangaroos and Kiwis crossed the line in the second half but the Kiwis secured the victory in the final two minutes with a field goal.

Junior Kiwis 15 (T: Heleta, Peni, Nikorima; G: Dockar-Clay; FG: Martin) defeated the Junior Kangaroos 14 (T: Holmes 2, Mamo; G: Gutherson) at Mount Smart Stadium.
