Pat Vaivai's hard work throughout the 2014 season was rewarded when the relentless forward was presented with the NSW Cup Player of the Year Award at the Newcastle Knights Presentation Night on Thursday. 

"It means everything to me, it's a good reward after the season and it's good to be acknowledged by my coach and everyone else," Vaivai told Knights TV after receiving his award. 

It was a successful year for the NSW Cup team, finishing the regular season in second place on the ladder, recording 15 wins and 9 losses.

The team progressed through to the finals with ease and were the first team through to the preliminaries after a 24-12 victory over the Wentworthville Magpies in week one of the finals.

This was the team’s eighth consecutive win and earnt the side a week off heading into week two of the finals. A dominant victory over the Illawarra Cutters saw the team progress to the grand final where they suffered a disappointing loss to the Penrith Panthers.
