Coach Wayne Bennett credited his side's high completion rate in windy conditions following Saturday's 42-12 win over the Parramatta Eels at Hunter Stadium.
"We played a pretty good first half against the breeze I was happy when they came in at 12-8," Bennett told the media at the post match press conference.
"The breeze can be something you think you're going to get an advantage out of and you don't, so it was important we capitalised in the second half as well.
"I think we carted the ball out the back of the field really good in the first half and put them under a fair bit of pressure and minimised our errors.
"After that first seven or eight minutes we were error free going into the first half except for right on half time, so that all helps when you've got a strong breeze against you."
After posting a 30-point win, the coach was happy.
"It was enjoyable and they enjoyed their football, it's nice to see them play like that," he added.
Captain Kurt Gidley believes the Knights earned their win by sticking to the game plan.
"The first half I felt we were under the pump a bit...they were coming pretty hard and fast," he said.
"But we were prepared to roll up our sleeves and work really hard into that wind.
"I think we did really well coming into half time.
"It was good to sit back as a fullback and watch some of the plays that we trained for come off.
"We just stuck to our game plan which is good to see because it worked reallly well."
Gidley was thrilled to get a win at Hunter Stadium for the fans who have supported the team through a tough season.
"It's nice to give back to them and have them leaving the stadium proud," he said.
Meanwhile, Tyler Randell backed up a full game in NSW Cup preceeding the match to make his NRL debut for the Knights at starting hooker.
"I think he's pretty thrilled to be a part of it," Bennett said.
