Newcastle Knights winger Akuila Uate has had knee surgery that rules him out of the final two games of the season.

Uate had been in and out of the team due to ongoing issues with his left knee, before it was decided to have surgery last week.

Surgery allows the 26-year-old to resume pre-season training with the team later in the year.

It is a similar story for fellow winger James McManus, who has been sidelined with a foot injury. McManus was hoping to be back before Round 26 however he won't make it back before season's end.

In the absence of Uate and McManus, the Mata'utia brothers, Sione and Chanel, have been playing on the wings.

There were no new injuries to report out of Saturday's match against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.
