It was another tough loss for the Newcastle Knights on Sunday and while the team is obviously frustrated, remaining positive is a must according to veteran forward Willie Mason.

“The last month or so, we have been right in games… so it is pretty disheartening,” Mason admitted.

“You can’t pinpoint anything and it is hard to cop that every week when you don’t have an answer for it.

“You shake your head at stuff because you just don’t know what’s going on.

“You come off the ground so tired and so buggered after putting so much effort in and coming up with nothing.

“It is disheartening and it is hard to turn up to training and to keep upbeat but it is only half way through the season.

“People are writing us off… but as a playing group we don’t think that. We need to stay positive all the time.”

For now, the Knights return to training, intent on turning their fortunes around when they travel to Sydney to take on the Roosters this Saturday night.

“We know we are so close to putting a whole 80 minutes together, we have to keep sticking to what we are doing; we are training hard, doing the right things… and we just have to play to our best for a full 80 minutes,” Mason added.
