Coach Wayne Bennett has a simple message for halfback Tyrone Roberts in the lead-up to Saturday's crucial clash against the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium.

Bennett wants Roberts to get his hands on football as much as possible, a plan that sits well with the Knights No.7.

"My form been up and down, but Wayne is still onto me about it," Roberts said after training on Wednesday.

"He just said get involved and make sure the ball is in my hand.

"And when I run the ball, make sure everyone knows what I’m doing.

"Mullo has got a bit of dominance at the moment.

"He has been here for a long time and I’ve just got to inject myself a bit more.

"Because I know that I’m dangerous with the ball and when I get my hands on the ball, the boys benefit from it.

"So Wayne just told me to get more involved."

Roberts is happy to have Mullen back in the team after he missed the opening five rounds due to a hamstring injury.

He says their combination is starting to come together again, but they must improve their communication.

"On the weekend we’ve just got to talk a bit more and make sure everyone knows what we are doing," he explains.

"The team will benefit once we get that connection again."

While Roberts is excited by the challenge of taking on Bulldogs halves pairing Josh Reynolds and Trent Hodkinson on Saturday night, he believes the Knights must focus on themselves to get the win.

"They are going good," he says of Reynolds and Hodkinson.

"But once we’ve crossed that stripe, we’ve got to give 100 per cent and concentrate on ourselves mainly and hopefully we can come away with the result."
