No holding back for Buderus

Newcastle Knights legend Danny Buderus is set to run on to Hunter Stadium for the final time on Sunday afternoon when the team plays host to the Parramatta Eels.
The Club’s most capped player, who overcame two back injuries to get back on the field this season, will step up wherever is required with the loss of captain Kurt Gidley to injury.
“This is my last hurrah and I will do anything for the team leading in to the run home,” Buderus told the media after Tuesday’s training session.
“We have everything to lose but we are playing for something, we are playing for a semi final series.
“That is what this group has been working towards for 18 months now and l would like to think it will be a really good performance.”
After Friday night’s victory over the Brisbane Broncos, the Knights are sitting in seventh place on 27 points but have three teams in the North Queensland Cowboys, Gold Coast Titans and New Zealand Warriors sitting just one point behind them.

“I was under the impression that it was two games (Brisbane and Parramatta) we had to win anyway so that is the mentality we have always had,” the 35-year-old said.
“The performance will hopefully be at a semi final intensity on our side if things.
“We need to play well to get in to the semi finals and if we don’t win then we don’t deserve to be there at the end of the day.”
Buderus said even though the Eels are sitting in last place, they will arrive for Old Boy's Day with confidence after their 26-22 win over the St George Illawarra Dragons on Monday night.
“To play against a team like Parramatta who have a lot of good individuals, we have to be on our game,” he said.
“We have to pay them (Eels) respect, they obviously won last night and we have a lot to play for.
“The best time of year to be playing is around September with something to play for, so I am sure we will put in a good performance.”
