Former Canberra Raiders hooker Travis Waddell has joined the Newcastle Knights at training this week.
A Raiders junior, Waddell played 53 games first grade games for the Club before being released at the end of the 2012 season.
"It is great to have Travis training with us this week," CEO Matt Gidley said.
"We have a host young hookers coming through but he would be an obvious back-up to Danny Buderus should we need it.
"He is signed to Souths Logan Magpies but we will keep in contact with him, especially if a back up hooker was needed this season."
Waddell will play alongside Knights centre Timana Tahu in next month’s All Stars match in Brisbane.
