The Knights go close to scoring first points through James McManus, but the winger is unable to run onto a pass from Darius Boyd.

18th Minute - PENALTY | 0-0
Newcastle are awarded a relieving penalty just in front their try line and make plenty of metres in the resulting set.

21st Minute - KNOCK ON | 0-0
Braith Anasta drops the ball just metres away from the Knights' try line, as both sides still search for first points.

28th Minute - CLOSE CALL | 0-0

31st Minute - NEW TRY | NEW 6-0
Jarrod Mullen scores first points of the afternoon, taking the line on and slicing through the Roosters defence to claim a vital four points. Wes Naiqama adds the extras.

34th Minute - SYD TRY | 6-6

HALFTIME

49th Minute - BIG HIT | SYD 8-6
Boyd Cordner puts a massive hit on Willie Mason - plenty of feeling in this one.

58th Minute - SYD TRY | SYD 12-6
Mitchell Aubusson makes a powerful run on his way to the line, palming off Zeb Taia after receiving a nicely timed pass from Pearce. Anasta is unable to convert.

64th Minute - SYD TRY | SYD 18-6
Sam Perrett scores off the back of some nice ad lib play from the home side, with the ball going through 11 sets of hands before Anthony Minichiello lofted it out to the winger. Perrett still had plenty to do, but muscled his way through the sliding defence. Anasta adds a further two.

71st Minute - SYD TRY | SYD 24-6
Pearce crosses for another Roosters try, running a great line onto a pass from Jake Friend. The hooker did well to create the space, providing some great service for his halfback. Anasta is again successful with his conversion.
