Mason's feeling confident

Willie Mason is feeling confident, both personally and in the team, as the Knights’ finalise their preparations for the 2013 season.

“It is a different culture at the Knights this year and everyone is buying into Wayne’s philosophies and Wayne’s world,” the veteran forward said after the Knights’ trial in Tamworth.

“The way he wants us to play, the way he coaches, everyone is buying into it, it is definitely a different place.”

Not only has Mason had a pre-season for the first time in six years, he has trained for a charity boxing match and also returned to the representative stage during the off-season.

“I am feeling good after a pre-season; getting that run in your legs and to come out flying,” he added.

“It was good to train with the elite again at All Stars and to not be out of place in the elite, that gives me confidence.

“I have had three good games now, and I am feeling confident and ready to rip in.”

While Mason was disappointed with the result of the trial match in Tamworth on Saturday, he said the team is better for the hit-out.

“I am disappointed in the loss, no one wants to lose especially like that, given we were in a position to win, but we will work on those errors we made,” Mason said.

“The mistakes just killed us but that is what trials are for and we will rectify that for Round 1.”

The Knights kick off the season on Monday March 11 at Hunter Stadium against the West Tigers.
