The Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce Willie Mason has signed a two-year extension with his hometown Club.
Mason arrived at the Knights mid way through the 2012 season and not only did he have an immediate impact on the team, he went on to play the rest of the season and won the Coaches Award at the Club’s presentation event.
“Willie made a wonderful contribution to the Knights from the minute he arrived, which has been well documented,” coach Wayne Bennett said.
“We are all looking forward to seeing what a good pre-season can do for him as well as seeing him play with the Knights for the next two seasons.”
Mason, who was a local junior but left the area at age 17, has said on numerous occasions he has come full circle with his return to the Club.
“The deal was done earlier in the year and I am glad all the formalities have now been finalised,” Mason said.
“I am very excited to be a Knight for the next two years.”
The Knights, who have recently commenced pre-season testing and officially kick off pre-season training on Monday, are pleased with the assembled squad for 2013 and beyond.
“We are confident that the balance in our 2013 squad will deliver a team that all our members and supporters will be proud of,” CEO Matt Gidley said.
