Gidley calls on Knights supporters

Newcastle Knights captain Kurt Gidley has called on Knights Members and supporters to get behind the Newcastle Jets in their blockbuster clash with Sydney FC at Hunter Stadium this Saturday.
The Jets host Sydney FC in the return match of the early season blockbuster that saw over 35,000 fans witness a 3-2 win in favour of Newcastle at Allianz Stadium with goals from marquee players Emile Heskey and Alessandro Del Piero.
"The Round 2 match between Newcastle and Sydney FC was great. As a Novocastrian, it was terrific to see our boys beat Sydney on their turf and for Emile put one in the back of the net," Gidley said.
"Quite a few of the Knights boys enjoy watching the soccer and will be there to watch Heskey and Del Piero go head to head. It's not often you witness two great players in your backyard."
Both teams are desperate for the win and some much needed confidence heading into the new year, and Gidley expects the Jets fortunes to turn around.
"They've had a tough run of late. They're in a similar spot to where we were last season and only need to find some confidence and they'll bounce back strongly," Gidley said.
Sydney boast some of the biggest names in the A-League including Alessandro Del Piero, Socceroos Brett Emerton and Jason Culina, and their most recent signing Joel Griffiths.
"I'm really looking forward to the game and hope that Newcastle show their support by getting to Hunter Stadium on Saturday. There's nothing better than a big vocal home crowd to lift you," Gidley said.
