Under 20’s winger Josh Allison is confident his teammates will be better for the experience of 2012; where they led the competition early on but finished the season in eleventh position.
“We have learnt a lot from last season,” he said.
“We certainly need to be consistent and not drop off at the end of the year.
“We have to keep the momentum going for the whole season and hopefully if we do that we can finish up the top this season.”
On return to training last week the team were put through a number of gruelling fitness tests.
“It is good to be back with all the boys,” Allison said.
“We are all trying to reach our targets and get a good pre-season in.
“Some of the boys who were here last year are trying to improve on last year’s results.”
This will be Allison’s second year in the NYC and with a number of new faces in the squad, the Newcastle-local said he is looking forward to taking on more of a leadership role this season.
“There are a lot of new younger boys and us older boys have to step up and lead the way,” he added.
“We are all pretty keen to kick start the season.”
