Knights Development

The Newcastle Knights Junior Development Program, in conjunction with the Newcastle Rugby League enhance and propagate the game of Rugby League at the grass roots level (7-18 years).

The programs includes education of administrators, players, coaches and sports trainers to reach competent standards; commensurate with the levels they service and participate with.

We practice and embrace the safe play code as well as codes of conduct that provide an atmosphere which is both business like and enjoyable.

We recruit and develop talented athletes providing them moral and social support, whilst educating, training and providing them the opportunity to play and perform at the elite level.

The Knights along with NRL Development also introduce tens of thousands of primary school students to Rugby League each year.

Providing a revolutionary approach to primary school development has proven both a valuable support to teachers and an important stepping stone for children embracing a healthier lifestyle whilst introducing school based competitions and providing interactive teaching material on nutrition and lifestyle.

Gala days are conducted across the Newcastle and the Hunter Valley where thousands of local children are gathered in carnivals to learn the fun and the skills of Rugby League.

The current program has face to face contact with upward of 70,000 school students.
