Naming rights sponsor Coal & Allied and the Newcastle Knights formed a Community Alliance in 2008 with a goal to make a difference to the lives of people throughout the Hunter Valley.

An Australian-first sponsorship initiative, the landmark agreement between two Hunter icons is designed to give back to the region and not just to football supporters, but to a community of workers, families, farmers, miners and all who are a rich part of the fabric that is the Hunter Valley.

The Community Alliance facilitates a calendar of programs, events, educational and training opportunities.

Activities include supporting educational programs in schools, indigenous student mentoring, community events, junior football clinics, health and wellness programs for staff, applying learning’s from different cultures and approaches of the Alliance partners and corporate growth opportunities for players with life beyond football.

The Alliance has a set criteria of goals which benefit the region on a whole variety of levels, from providing children with fitness and healthy lifestyle tips to supporting local charities through to environmental awareness campaigns. As a result, both organisations have implemented new strategies within their own workplaces and taken this to the community.

The relationship has strong community values and aims to bring many benefits to our region.
